Fall 2008 – Following Jesus 101

Jesus beckons all his would-be disciples, “Follow me”.  It is “on the way” that their lives are transformed, that they experience the first fruits of God’s salvation, that a new community if given birth.  It is in our discipleship, together, that we discover what Jesus means when he says, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me with never be thirsty”.

In response to a number of different requests, “Following Jesus 101” will be a dynamic, interactive experience offered in six sessions.  We will encounter the Jesus of the gospels, speaking to us individually and together.  We will consider the shape and substance that our life with Jesus takes.  We will have the opportunity to raise questions, explore decisions of faith, and consider simple spiritual disciplines that will enhance our daily lives.

This course will be beneficial to: 1) people “on the way” who are discerning your own path as disciples of Jesus; 2) people new to the faith community; 3) longtime members moving from “going to church” to a deeper experience of “God-with-us”; 4) folks whose own confirmation experience was long ago.

We will meet on six Sundays (every other week) after worship from October until early December.  Each session will begin with some lunch and will be scheduled for 90 minutes.  A resource book will be provided for each participant.  The specific dates will be announced soon.  Please let Pastor Scott know of your interest.
