Mission Projects

We Are The Church TogetherMission Resource Team

The Mission Outreach Team supports all of the ongoing missions at St. Andrew’s. This team helps increase the congregation’s awareness of the different missions we have so they can participate and learn more about them. Thanks to the MOT team, we now have “Mission” designated envelopes available in the sanctuary that can be used at any time by the congregation to support our missions.

The Mission Resource Team Mission Statement: “Through God’s love, open our hearts and talents to our brothers and sisters in need throughout our church, our community and our world. Enlighten our congregation of ongoing outreach missions and encourage new opportunities and participation.”

Basket of BlessingBasket of Blessing

The Basket of Blessing Team is a mission based team that provides comfort and care to those families that have lost a loved one from their immediate family. The team puts together a personal basket with items that would make that family or person feel loved and a sense of peace at a very difficult time. We are always in need of people from our congregation to donate and/or help deliver these baskets of comfort.

Donation suggestions: stationary (thank you notes, nice writing paper, etc), postage stamps, body lotions, soaps, inspirational books, candles, candy (chocolate or hard candies), prayer shawls, small wind chimes, journals, photo frames, small photo albums, large baskets, coffee, tea, mugs, etc. Please no perishable foods. If you would prefer to give a monetary donation, please see either Bonnie Hill or Karen Rush. All donations can be left in the church office marked “Basket of Blessing”.

Shared Table at Old First Church

The Shared Table Ministry will be visiting the Old First Reformed United Church of Christ in Philadelphia this winter on the third Sunday of each month, November through April. This is a ministry to help feed homeless men at a shelter organized by the Bethesda Project.

We will provide dinner, dessert, and camaraderie for 35 homeless men each Sunday during our visit. A planning meeting will be held each Sunday a week before the trip to Old First Church. Meals are prepared at home then taken to Old First and served to the men. We need folks to cook and folks to serve.

Please come share the spirit of The Lord with these people in need.

Please contact Tom Tabar if you wish to participate or have any questions and ideas

Aid for FriendsAid for Friends

Aid for Friends is an outreach to the community. Meals are prepared both by a group or by individuals at home. Trays are available so members can, once or twice a week, share their delicious home cooked dinner with an AFF client/friend. The dinner is frozen and then brought to the AFF freezer at church. This is a great way to teach our children about sharing with sick and elderly people.

Memorial Garden

The Memorial Garden was dedicated in October 2009, and we are so blessed to have a truly beautiful and inspiring garden to celebrate our loved ones. Many thanks to Andrew and Ken Barndt for all the hard work that was put into making this project successful. Also, thank you to all those who made and who continue to make donations towards engraved bricks.

The brick walkway and the landscaping around the walkway are a wonderful enhancement to the Church grounds. The Garden Team is looking for anyone who enjoys working outside to help with maintaining these beautiful gardens. We need several people to rotate on a monthly basis to pull weeds, water if needed, and keep the walk clean of debris. This upkeep is

needed May through September and can be done at your convenience. If you would like to be included on the schedule contact Ken Barndt or the church office.

Engraved bricks may be ordered at anytime. A $250 donation to the Memorial Fund will give you a brick in the garden. Order forms may be obtained from the church office. If you would like to see more images of our Memorial Garden in all its glory go to our Facebook book page photo section.

Enjoy the garden!

Culinary Team

The Culinary Team coordinates church dinners, luncheons and special events for our faith community. They enhance fellowship of our congregation and community with a joyful spirit through the preparation and serving of food.

This team is always important to the success of our many annual events: Pork & Sauerkraut Dinner, the Mystery Dinner Theatre, Vacation Bible School, Stewardship Covered Dish Luncheon, and Apple Fest.
