Shared Table at Old First Church

Join us in this special ministry of preparing and serving meals to men living in homeless shelters. This is a ministry organized by the Bethesda Project.

For 2010 – 2011 the dates are November 21st, December 19th, January 16th, February 20th, March 20th, and April 17th.  A planning meeting is held the Sunday before each trip.

We prepare complete meals ahead of time, travel to Old First Church, serve the food to the men living at the shelter and share the spirit of God with them.

Both the Sr. Youth Group and Jr. Youth Group participate in this important ministry.

Aid for FriendsAid for Friends

Aid for Friends is an outreach to the community. Meals are prepared both by a group or by individuals at home. Trays are available so members can, once or twice a week, share their delicious home cooked dinner with an AFF client/friend. The dinner is frozen and then brought to the AFF freezer at church. This is a great way to teach our children about sharing with sick and elderly people. Once a month a group gathers at church and makes meals with food that the group has prepared at home. The group enjoys doing that as much as the client/friends enjoy the meals that are provided to them free of charge by AFF visitors.

Memorial Garden Memorial Garden – Update!

The final phase of the Memorial Garden is completed! Be sure to take a look at what a beautiful addition this makes to our Church property. Many thanks to Andrew and Ken Barndt for all the hard work that was put into making this project successful. Also thanks to all those who made donations and donated engraved bricks.

The brick walkway and the landscaping around the walkway are a wonderful enhancement to the Church grounds. The Garden Team is looking for anyone who enjoys working outside to help with maintaining these beautiful gardens. We need several people to rotate on a monthly basis to pull weeds, water if needed, and keep the walk clean of debris. This upkeep is needed May through Memorial Garden September and can be done at your convenience. If you would like to be included on the schedule, contact Ken Barndt or the church office.

This will be an ongoing project so engraved bricks may be ordered at anytime. Order forms may be obtained from the church office.

Enjoy the garden!

JOYful Servers

The JOYful Servers coordinate church dinners, luncheons and special events as needed by our faith community. They enhance fellowship of our congregation and community with a joyful spirit through the preparation and serving of food.

Same Name – New Mission

The JOYful Servers are becoming a Fellowship Group!  Those folk who enjoy helping in the kitchen can continue, but we also will go places, plan fun activities and have more fun-fellowship.
