Nonviolent Atonement Seminar

Friday, May 16, 2008   9:00 am - 5:00 pm

St. Andrew's UCC

featuring J. Denny Weaver, Sharon Baker, and Michael Hardin

How can we begin to guide the church away from concepts of a wrathful God and into the arms of the loving, merciful God of Jesus?  Experience a full day of interactive dialogue with key writers and proponents of this view of the saving work of Christ.

The seminar will be led by three outstanding thinkers and teachers: J. Denny Weaver of Bluffton College, author of The Nonviolent Atonement; Sharon Baker of Messiah College, author of By Grace?; and Michael Hardin of Preaching Peace, editor of Stricken by God?  To register for this groundbreaking event go to www.preachingpeace.org.  For more information, talk to Pastor Scott.

Progressive Dinner

The JOYful Servers are hosting a Progressive Dinner on Saturday, May 17.  We would like to invite you all to join us on this fun-filled evening where the first forty people to sign up will be able to take advantage of St. Andrew’s favorite activity -- EATING!  We will go from home to home, beginning with appetizers, then on to soup, then salad. Our main course will be served at Fellowship Hall and we will end with delicious desserts along with coffee or tea. The cost for this dinner is $10 per person.

If anyone who is not on the JOYful Servers Team would like to host one of these courses we would be delighted.   Please see Shirley Metzger or Joan Hutchinson

We are hoping everyone will be looking forward to this delightful, delectable evening.
